As part of the RCGP curriculum every trainee is required to complete 18 OOH sessions – one a month - during their 18 month placement in a GP practice. The idea is to provide care in the hours when a patient’s usual GP is closed ie. 6.30pm to 8am and weekends. This involves working remotely, away from your training practice and the patient’s notes. Currently this occurs in the clinic space above A&E and runs almost like a GP practice.
Croydon provides a supportive environment for trainees, with a supernumerary trainer on site during these sessions who is available to answer questions, provide tutorials and guidance, and offer feedback on your management including WPBAs that need to be completed as part of training.
Each session will involve either seeing patients face-to-face, management via a telephone consultation or off site through a home visit (with a dedicated car, driver and qualified GP to accompany you). Each session lasts 6 hours and takes place on weekends.
You can book sessions by logging into Rota Master.
